Attorney General Marc Dann Resigns Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann resigned May 14th after just 17 months on the job, about one month after a sexual-harassment scandal within the AG's office surfaced. While the scandal initially appeared to involve only the actions of those serving under Dann, his own admission of an extramarital affair with a 28-year-old staff member hastened calls for his departure. Army Failed to Test Body Armor
An April 1st NBC News report by Lisa Myers and Adam Ciralsky cited the
Pentagon's Inspector General's report detailing repeated failures by the
U.S. Army to require that body armor for our troops be tested for

As for the dollar cost, a March 9th AP report says that the war is now costing $12 billion a month, with long-term costs as high as $2.7 trillion. John McCain-- Confused or Lying? Republican Presidential nominee John McCain has begun repeatedly saying that Iran is helping al-Qaida train in Iran to fight Americans in Iraq. As a presidential candidate running on foreign policy experience, he should know Iran is a predominantly Shiite Muslim country, and would never cooperate with the Sunni extremist group al-Qaida. So he is either confused, or engaging in a very familiar Bush administration tactic of attempting to link a country to al-Qaida in order to justify attacking it. Four more years, anyone? Bush Vetoes Waterboarding Bill President Bush vetoed a bill on Saturday that would have banned the CIA from using simulated drowning and other harsh methods on suspected terrorists. The bill basically asked the CIA to abide by the Army Field Manual, which limits adherents to 19 approved techniques. This is the same bill that Senator John McCain recently surprised torture opponents by voting against the ban.
